In this class handling skills and basic control will be improved.
Students learn to give timely commands, to provide consistent and
smooth body cues, and to develop teamwork with their dogs. Handlers
also develop the ability to switch smoothly from handling their dogs
off one side to handling off the other in the middle of a sequence. The
dog and handler teams will continue to improve their skills and will
become more proficient at simple combinations of obstacles. Sequencing
is performed off lead, therefore, your dog also must be able to sit,
stay, down, and come on command, off lead. (Prerequisite- Intro to
Agility) | File Name | File Size | File Type |

| 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM | Reactive Dog Class (begin Jan. 25) - Indoor Training Room http://www.luckydogsportsclub.com/reactive.html Contact Mindy Cox woof@luckydogsportsclub.com
Enjoy Walking Your Dog Again! Do you feel lost when your dog barks, growls or lunges at other dogs or people? This very special class is for all dogs that overreact in new situations or with new people or other dogs. They may become very stressed, anxious or shy, or they may become over excited and aggressive. This aggression is fear based and this behavior is appropriately called reactivity. If your dog can't calm down within a few seconds, he or she is probably a reactive dog. This class is about your dog learning relaxation and trust and overcoming fear and anxiety. The training methods used are based on the development of a working relationship with your dog. Understand what your reactive dog is doing, why he's doing it, and how to change it. Learn the tools to decrease the stress in your dog and teach him or her confidence and focus. Come work with your dog in a controlled, supportive environment with a small group of dog owners who understand your issues because they share them. Instill a conditioned emotional response, learn calming and management techniques, coping responses, and emergency escape exercises.
These are 6-week classes, held primarily indoors in a controlled environment, and then partially outdoors in a fenced area for the last two weeks. This class usually fills up quickly so please submit your registration form soon for a working spot (with your dog). There are auditing (without dog) spots also available. Instructor: Dr. Lisa Radosta, a board certified veterinary behaviorist. | 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM | Private - Indoor Training Room
| | 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM | Ideal Puppy Socialization & Training (#D- start Feb-2-2012) - Indoor Training Room http://www.luckydogsportsclub.com/ideal-puppy.html Contact Mindy Cox, B.S., CPDT-KA woof@luckydogsportsclub.com
Ideal Puppy is your puppy's first class, almost like Kindergarten. Your puppy must be between 9 and 19 weeks at the start of class.
Why should all puppies go to school? By five months of age much of your puppy's personality has been determined, so it is very important to begin a class prior to this age. Early puppyhood is a critical time for socialization and learning. This time will set the stage for the rest of your puppy's life. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime chance to show your puppy how to confidently relate to other puppies, unfamiliar people, and strange sights, sounds, and events. It is crucial that this developmental stage is used wisely!
We will work on critical skills such as socialization and bite inhibition (developing a soft mouth), as well as issues such as housebreaking, and chewing. Your pup will learn to control biting by playing with dogs his age. It's important that your puppy learns to be comfortable in strange settings and situations and to adapt to the world around him and feel at ease with other dogs and people.
Puppy play to teach important dog-dog socialization skills, is an important aspect of this class. We will also cover basic manners and preventing bad habits and behavior problems. We will introduce basic obedience such as sit, down, come, don't touch and follow. We will also discuss important things like grooming, house training, and socialization. We will show you good games to play with your puppy that are both fun and teach your puppy self control.
Instructor: Stacey Curcio.
